This great value unit from Makita has features normally only found on more expensive models. It has a laser which is visible from up to 30 metres, with a diameter of 6mm at 10 metres. It has a tracking feature that gives a constant updating display of measured distance. The LD030P can even automatically calculate the area of a room by allowing you to take two measurements in a row and displays an accurate reading of the area based on those distances. It is possible to operate the unit in metric or imperial measurement modes.
